DUI SERVICES
Desert Foothills Counseling offers DUI screening, Level II DUI Education and Level I DUI Treatment groups for individuals who have been convicted of a DUI and have been ordered by the Court to participate in a department approved screening, education, and/or treatment program.

DUI Screening is an interview and assessment of an individual to determine whether education or treatment is required and a referral made to a DUI education or treatment agency.

Level II DUI Education is provided for sixteen (16) hours. The groups are formulated to educate clients about drinking and driving and problem drinking. Clients will complete a pre-test when entering the program and a post test upon completion. Clients who complete Level II will receive a Certificate of Completion. Formal documentation will be sent to the referral source. Clients who may clinically benefit by further therapy will be referred appropriately.

Level I DUI Treatment: A client who has completed an alcohol screening/substance abuse assessment, and is deemed to be a problem drinker or drug user shall be referred to a Level I outpatient program.  This would be an adult who is not having serious or moderately serious withdrawal problem and who is cooperative and, emotionally and intellectually capable of participating in counseling.

The Level I Treatment program is an outpatient treatment program including the Level II, 16-hour DUI class plus 20/36-hours of group therapy in 2-hour sessions.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROGRAM:
Desert Foothills Counseling provides a domestic violence intervention program for misdemeanor and felony domestic violence offenders. The Domestic Violence Intervention Program is a cognitive-behavioral treatment program that is based on the Duluth Model of providing a psycho educational therapy program for individuals struggling with power and control issues. The Duluth Model is designed to provide opportunity for behavioral change to nonviolence and is reinforced by continual research on the program's efficacy. The curriculum is based on the analysis that domestic violence is an issue of power and control. The curriculum is supplemented with additional modules on self-esteem, stress management, conflict resolution, healthy relationship skills, and other topics relevant to domestic abuse issues. New research is continually being implemented into the curriculum. Most of the participants in the program are court-ordered although voluntary participation is welcome.
